A massive Thank You to everyone that visited and took part in the Chesham Green Living Fair 2011. The day was testament to the creativity and ingenuity of local residents, and provided a wonderful launch pad for many ideas to make Chesham a more vibrant and sustainable town, including tangible plans for a community orchard, reinvigorating our high street, and a garden share scheme.

The Fair, held on Saturday 25th June, also celebrated the first anniversary of the valued Local Produce Market, which brings local producers and farmers into the heart of Chesham every fourth Saturday of the month.

Thanks to the live music acts (including spoon-players!), fabulous face-painter and clown, we were kept well entertained throughout the day. Stalls offered lots of free advice on issues as varied as composting, local walks and conservation, reducing energy use, and greener transport. Unsurprisingly, Chesham's younger residents were incredibly well informed on the issues, with wonderful displays from local schools and some great drawings on our Future Feasts table.

By the end of the day huge numbers of people had marked their wishes for Chesham on a beautiful handmade 3D model of the town. Ideas included:

Congratulations to the winners of the two Stronnell bicycles kindly sponsored by Healthright and Ecofurn, and thanks again to everyone who supported the fair – now let’s turn these ideas into action!
